Whatever Stiles had built up in his head when he heard the words "gay bar", he wasn't sure that Jungle was it. Sure there was the bad dance music and the flashing lights that made his head spin a little, but weren't there supposed to be like guys in cages dancing or something? He was pretty sure he'd seen that on TV. Not that it mattered, not like he was here for himself or anything. Just coming to spend some quality time with his good friend and teammate Danny.

Danny who he almost never spoke to.

Danny who didn't technically know he was here...

So he'd overheard Danny mention a teen night at the club to Jackson and decided to sneak over...just to see. Research purposes only.

"Oh!" He pulled a hand out of his sweatshirt pocket and offered it to the older man. "Stiles."

[sourwolf_hale]

"Derek," he replied, taking Stiles' hand and shaking it firmly once before letting it go. "So can I ask you something?"

[stylin_stiles]

"Derek," he tried out the name with a smile, but looked a little unsure at Derek's question. "As long as it's not about my name, feel free."

[sourwolf_hale]

"Wasn't going to be. But now I'm intrigued," Derek said with a smile. "No. I was going to ask you when you think your friends were gonna get here? Or if you're just by yourself?"

[stylin_stiles]

"Oh...uh..." he say back in his seat, nervously playing with the label of his beer. I mean I do have friends here, in the sense that there are a few people here who know my name from school? But in any other sense yeah, I'm here by myself. I just wanted to see what it was like that's all."

[sourwolf_hale]

"So.. no. You aren't waiting for friend," Derek said, a small amused smile playing across his lips.

[stylin_stiles]

"I mean...if you wanna get technical about it," he huffed, running a hand through his hair. "Then no, I'm not waiting for anybody."

[sourwolf_hale]

"Well, technically I'm here by myself too. So... would you like to make an evening of it? I'll make sure to have you home by your curfew," he teased before taking a pull from his glass.

[stylin_stiles]

Stiles let out an awkward laugh, not wanting to share the fact that of course he had a curfew, his dad was the sheriff. "Yeah...yeah ok," he shrugged. "But I'm really just kinda here to observe, ya know?"

"Alright. I don't mind just observing with you," Derek said with a smilr, looking out over the dancing crowd.

[stylin_stiles]

Stiles cocked his head, watching the older man closely. "Why...exactly?" He asked. "I mean there's hot guys everywhere, if that's what you're looking for. So why are you talking to me.."

"You don't think you're hot," Derek asked, sidelining all of Stiles' questions.

[stylin_stiles]

Stiles started laughing, he couldn't help himself. "Uhh..no. No I don't think I'm hot."

[sourwolf_hale]

"Why not? I think you do. You've got beautiful eyes. High cheek bones. Perfect little lips. Plus those little beauty marks say something," Derek said. "I think you're beautiful."

[stylin_stiles]

Stiles started shifting in his seat as the handsome man described him, running a hand through his hair as he looked around. He suddenly couldn't manage to make eye contact anymore. He cleared his throat, giving a small nod, "umm...ok." He just wanted the guy to stop talking.

[sourwolf_hale]

"Is that okay? Did I say too much," Derek asked, knowing by the color of Stiles' face that the boy was embarrassed. It was kind of cute.

[stylin_stiles]

"I guess I just...don't see that guy you're describing?" Stiles frowned, trying to describe why it made him uncomfortable. "Plus kinda weird to hear all that coming from anyone about me, especially a guy."

[sourwolf_hale]

"So... you're okay with guys being here but you don't want any of them hitting on you," he questioned, tilting his head a little.

[stylin_stiles]

"I didn't say I didn't want guys hitting on me, I guess I just...didn't consider it a possibility?" He shrugged.

[sourwolf_hale]

"You're a little confusing, you know that Stikes," Derek teased, taking another pull of his glass.

[stylin_stiles]

"Yeah," he nodded, "I've been told that before." He realized the guy had had a lot of his beer where he'd had maybe two sips and tried to chug some, managing to not make a face.

[sourwolf_hale]

"Why don't you think guys hitting on you would be possible? Cause nobody says they think you're attractive? Maybe you're just around the wrong kind of people," Derek questioned, watching the teen chug his beer. But it was obvious that this one didn't do that often.

[stylin_stiles]

"I mean I've never like taken a poll or anything, I don't know how other people feel about me," he shrugged, "I'm pretty sure they feel more or less neutral." He was still shifting a little, his fingers tapping on the table to distract himself when the conversation start to make him uncomfortable.

Derek watched his little prey for another second. He wouldn't get him into the back room this way. He was making Stiles uncomfortable and that always changed the taste of things. So he switched topics.

"Alright. So tell me a little about yourself," he asked. That way the boy felt like he had control over something.
